Prize offers IT training for life

The UK’s IT contractors have been invited to compete for a £1m prize – taking the form of as many free courses in computer training as they like for the rest of their lives.

The prize, offered by Firebrand Training, is open to any ambitious and tech-savvy individuals and is a waiver on any fees for more than 160 computing courses. This includes the costs of training and examinations, and even accommodation.

The firm unveiled the giveaway on 14th March. The prize is believed to offer whoever wins it earning potential of more than £5m – if prospective pay rises from the qualifications are taken into account.

The managing director of the company, Frank Højgaard, said it is estimated that the winner’s earning power will be increased three-fold over the course of their professional career.

He added that, considering the shortfall in IT staff numbers coming, according to EU predictions, in 2015, now is the best time to get involved in a lifetime of IT training.

To enter, all an individual has to do is sign-up in the company’s FTFL section online. The prize reportedly comprises courses from companies such as Cisco, Lean Six Sigma, PRINCE2, Oracle and Microsoft.

After completing their entry, an entrant will get a unique URL, which they can then share will followers or friends to increase their own chances of winning.

A specialist accountant for contractors is recommended for IT contractors in the UK. Specialists will have a broad understanding of the issues facing contract workers, which can generally increase as earnings increase.
